What is proper way to place Initials for a Monogram?
There are 3 letter monograms where the middle initial is larger and these can be used for an individual or for a married couple. And there are 3 letter monograms where the letters are all the same size. What's the difference? See these examples below ...
- For a married couple like Julie and Robert Gold you would enter the monogram order as JGR (woman's name initial on left, man's name initial on right and last name initial larger in the middle).
- For a single person's monogram, like Betsy Hope Friedman you would enter the monogram order as BFH (first name initial on left, middle name initial on right and last name initial larger in the middle).
- For a single person's initials, like Betsy Hope Friedman you would enter the initial order as BHF. In this case, all the letters will appear the same size.
Does a Male or Female name appear first?
The wife's name always comes first on imprints
- Correct: Mary and Frank Burns (this is the accepted form)
For a monogram, the wife's initial is first, on the left...
- Correct: Mary and Frank Burns monogram would appear as: MBF
