Jewish New Year

The Jewish New Year begins with Rosh Hashanah, which literally means the head of the year. L'shanah tovah is used as a greeting during the holiday, which means, a good year.

Both Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are holy days and the 10 days between them is a period when those who are observant consider their behavior and relationships over the past year and, if appropriate, might vow to repair and improve them going forward.

One of the most symbolic elements of the holiday temple service is the shofar, which is a real ram’s horn. As done in olden days, the horn is sounded by forcibly blowing air into it creating an amplified sound which can be heard throughout the synagogue. The sounding of the ram's horn occurs on the first day of the holiday and again on the last day. The sounds evoke history and tradition as it the same sound each and every year, going back through the generations.

Another popular observance during Rosh Hashanah is the holiday meal. Apples and honey represent a sweet new year and the holiday meal usually features apple slices dipped in honey, as well as many traditional foods such as chicken soup, sweet & sour meatballs, roasted chicken, beef brisket, vegetables, apple noodle kugel and oven baked potatoes. Sweet treats like apple cake are a yummy ending to the holiday dinner.

Most families gather around beautifully set tables and often invite friends to join in the celebration. It's nice if you attend a holiday dinner to bring your host or hostess flowers, wine or a personalized thank you gift. Popular gift ideas include a personalized notepad set, a set of personalized stationery, an etched glass serving tray or a wooden cutting board.

Another fun idea is to bring a set of personalized napkins or guest towels as a lovely present which will be appreciated. If you are hosting the party, personalized party essentials such as personalized cups and disposable plates are lovely to use and can make clean-up a little easier!

The Yom Kippur holiday ends the Jewish New Year period and is a day of fasting and prayer. In conclusion of Yom Kippur, families and friends will again gather and enjoy usually a lighter dairy dinner as cooking is not normally needed since many spend much of the day in temple. Typical meals include a lox and bagel tray, steamed salmon, vegetable salads and a variety of delicious sweets. The holiday is a time of reflection, renewed beginnings and a time to connect with family and friends.

Loved the finished product!!
I tried this website bc the people I normally order from slowed their process down and I was afraid my things wouldn't get here in time. LOVE!! The quality, the thickness, foil design...everything was done to perfection. I ordered the dinner size and beverage sized napkins. I even had a change I wanted to make if possible, but bc they had already printed my items I couldn't make it. HOWEVER, I'm saying that to say customer service got back to me quickly and informed me which I totally understood!! I will definitely be ordering from this company again and recommending to others.

These napkins are the perfect gift for someone who likes to entertain. They have a nice smooth border which accentuates the monogram on each napkin. I chose silver for the monogram, and it’s very rich looking.
