Family Favorite Apple Crisp is a Taste of Fall

Apple CrispIt’s hard to believe that autumn is almost here, but it feels like the seasons are changing.  For me, the sure tell sign of fall for me is when the apple trees are ready for picking. Next weekend, the honey crisps will be ready to pick in Michigan and I’ll be there, bushel in hand, picking my share.  My family loves honey crisps and what could be better than the sweet taste of a freshly picked apple?

I’ll pick enough, of course, to share with family and friends and will bring a bucket of them to the office too for everyone to enjoy.  And I’ll look forward to baking with the apples too.  That’s such a treat! The smell of baked apples and spices and a warm autumn dessert filling the house with that fabulous aroma is the best.  If you are planning an apple-themed party, we love our Basket of Apples Die-cut Invitations!

Basket of Apples Die-cut InvitationsAlthough I normally stick with my tried and true favorites in my recipe collection, I’ve been browsing recipes online lately as I want to try a new recipe this fall.   When I see a 4-star recipe on All Recipes.com, I feel pretty confident that it will be terrific.  The Family Favorite Apple Crisp seems like the perfect choice.  I’m going to make it for some company in a couple weeks, along with a peach foster.  I picked some peaches a month ago and froze the slices just for that reason.  Both, paired with vanilla ice cream, will make the perfect fall ending to my BBQ steak dinner I’m planning.

I am really excited to enjoy the warm sweet taste of this baked apple dish this year and hope you will find some time to enjoy a special dish that sounds good to you too!  Enjoy the many tastes of the season!

Happy fall,

Renee
