Pantone Color of the Year 2021

21 Jan

For products featured, see below.

If you haven’t already heard, the Pantone colors of the year for 2021 are Ultimate Gray and Illuminating (yellow).  We are absolutely in love with this inspiring combination that reflects a bright future and a sense of strength.

“As people look for ways to fortify themselves with energy, clarity, and hope to overcome the continuing uncertainty, spirited and emboldening shades satisfy our quest for vitality. PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating is a bright and cheerful yellow sparkling with vivacity, a warming yellow shade imbued with solar power. PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray is emblematic of solid and dependable elements which are everlasting and provide a firm foundation. The colors of pebbles on the beach and natural elements whose weathered appearance highlights an ability to stand the test of time, Ultimate Gray quietly assures, encouraging feelings of composure, steadiness and resilience,” according to the Pantone.com website.

This energized color combination can be incorporated into home decor, fashion and more for a much needed pick-me-up.  You can add a colorful notepad to your desk, maybe a yellow planter or a gray and yellow throw to brighten up your space!  You can always find  inspiration on our Pinterest boards as well.

How do you see these colors in your life in 2021?

3 Fabulous Summer Salads You Need to Try

11 Jun

Warm weather is finally here.  With it comes an opportunity to lighten up with our food (and mood!).  I love making salads for dinner and parties.  I happen to grow a few varieties of lettuce and spinach in my garden, so any opportunity to use them in a salad is a bonus.  Here are 3 summer salad recipes I can’t wait to try this summer.

I found this Southwestern Chopped Salad with Cilantro Dressing on Pinterest.  I think this would be the perfect salad for a warm night with a glass of white wine.  Or the perfect salad to make for a backyard BBQ.   The recipe is in the link.

This salad is a meal in itself!  For those who like to kick up the heat, this Sriracha Lime Chicken Chopped Salad looks delicious.  So many flavors in one bowl.  Recipe in link.

Now this salad happens to be a staple in my home.  My friend Michele has made this for years and it’s a knock-off from a popular restaurant in Chicago called Portillo’s.  I make this salad all the time for parties and people ask me over and over to make it again (and for the recipe, too!).  Portillo’s Chopped Salad makes a fantastic side dish at a party … or you can add some diced chicken to make it a meal on it’s own.  Recipe in link.

What salads do you make that just scream summer?  Or do you have a favorite recipe that you’re known for?   Share with us in the comments below.

Jennifer
