Photo credit: History.com<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"topic-paragraph\">According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/topic\/Saint-Patricks-Day\">Britannica.com<\/a>, St. Patrick is the\u00a0patron saint\u00a0of\u00a0<span id=\"ref756781\"><\/span>Ireland. Born in\u00a0Roman Britain\u00a0in the late 4th century, he was kidnapped at the age of 16 and taken to Ireland as a slave. He escaped but returned about 432 to convert the Irish to\u00a0Christianity. By the time of his death on March 17, 461, he had established monasteries, churches, and schools. Many\u00a0legends\u00a0grew up around him\u2014for example, that he drove the snakes out of Ireland and used the\u00a0<span id=\"ref1264837\"><\/span>shamrock\u00a0to explain the\u00a0Trinity. Ireland came to celebrate his day with religious services and feasts. Saint Patrick&#8217;s Day is celebrated on March 17.<\/p>\n<h1>5 Ways to Celebrate St. Patrick&#8217;s Day at Home<\/h1>\n<h3>1.
