While I can’t believe it’s already 2015, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner.\u00a0 Valentine’s Day is a great time to let someone know how much you love them.\u00a0 And that can be anyone special in your life … your spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend, kids, best friend … whoever means a lot to you!\u00a0 I think a homemade Valentine is a great gift.\u00a0 Why not make your special someone homemade Valentine cookies with messages?\u00a0 We have a terrific recipe from when we were featured on WGN-TV<\/a> last year.\u00a0 Of course, these look amazing in our personalized treat boxes<\/a> so you don’t have to limit your sweet treats to just one person!<\/p>\n

Sugar Cookie Recipe<\/h2>\n

1 cup butter
\n1 cup sugar
\n2 tsp vanilla
\n1 egg
\n3 cups flour
\n1 tsp baking soda
\n\u00bd tsp salt<\/p>\n

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.\u00a0 Mix butter and sugar until light and fluffy.\u00a0 Add vanilla and egg.\u00a0 Combine dry ingredients in separate bowl.\u00a0 Add to butter mixture and mix to combine.\u00a0 Roll out dough between two sheets of parchment to \u00bc inch thickness.\u00a0 Chill for 1 hour to overnight.\u00a0 Cut into shapes and place on parchment lined baking sheet.\u00a0 Chill again for 15-20 .\u00a0 Bake at 350 for 7 minutes, rotate pans, then bake for approximately 3 minutes more until cookies are just beginning to turn golden brown.\u00a0 Cool on wire racks until completely cool.<\/p>\n

Cookie Glaze<\/h2>\n

3 \u00be – 4 cups powdered sugar
\n6 Tablespoons whole milk
\n1 tsp almond flavoring
\n6 Tablespoons corn syrup<\/p>\n

Combine powdered sugar, milk, and flavoring.\u00a0 Mix until smooth.\u00a0 Add corn syrup.\u00a0 Stir until combined and smooth.\u00a0 If desired, add paste food coloring.<\/p>\n
